The partnership between RMIT and Dassault Systèmes / MEMKO has continued to grow, with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform at the forefront of equipping future engineers with industry-ready skills and opportunities for employability across 11 different industries.
Dassault Systèmes and its value partner MEMKO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in 2014 to develop a complete and holistic post-graduate PLM course using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The aim was to enable mechanical engineering students to become accredited and certified in advanced 3D design, simulation, manufacturing and project management.
RMIT has been using the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on-premise since 2014. However, with the recent growth in demand for remote learning, the university wanted to provide more flexibility and accessibility for students’ learning experience while maintaining its world-class standard of teaching.
MEMKO is an Australian company offering engineering services, technology solutions and training to assist and support customers in advanced and highly regulated industries. Established in 2007 with its headquarters in Melbourne, Australia, MEMKO is a certified software, systems integration and training partner of Dassault Systémes PLM Software, DELMIA, CATIA, ENOVIA, SIMULIA & NETVIBES for Australia and New Zealand, Verisurf metrology software for Australia and New Zealand, ICAM for the Asia Pacific region.

To address this challenge, RMIT shifted to the 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Platform. Mechanical engineering students now enjoy the same learning experience over their personal devices, anytime and anywhere!
The 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Platform gives them everything they need to bring their ideas to reality, including design & engineering, manufacturing & production, simulation, and governance & collaboration. Shifting to the cloud has also meant RMIT has been able to reduce a lot of in-house costs relating to computer labs and tedious IT maintenance. This has proved extremely beneficial post-Covid.
The3DEXPERIENCE Cloud Platform has enabled RMIT to enhance project-centric learning, providing an integrated, distributed and collective digital platform for project-oriented learning methods such as “Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate” (CDIO) or “Project (Problem)- based-learning” (PBL).
At any time, educators can remotely monitor projects, manage idea maturity, and assign grades. Collaboration becomes easy, dynamic, and natural among teachers, researchers, students, and industry mentors. The platform enables project mentors to facilitate more projects without compromising on the attention needed by students.
Through its experience in bridging Industry and Education, 3DEXPERIENCE for Education provides a proven environment for deploying digital labs involving realistic virtual 3D equipment.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform for Academia provides students with the skills needed to be work ready and meet the challenges of industry. The platform features advanced technologies in design, simulation and product development to equip future engineers with industry-ready skills and opportunities for employability.
