Leo Eggerton-Ferrari

Aerospace Engineer

I graduated in 2023 from RMIT with a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering (Honors). I love working in a team and my skills include good problem solving and communication. I am familiar with CATIA, SolidWorks, Abaqus/CAE as well as Ansys Fluent.

Some of the projects I have gained experience working on include the ALEPH-1 lunar horticulture project with the company Lunaria One. This involved investigating the feasibility of plant growth in a lunar environment (pressurized sealed container). The assembly of internal systems (irrigation, electronics and optical) within a capsule to be mounted aboard a lunar rover and facilitation and monitoring of seed germination upon commencement of mission. I also worked on a rover wheel optimization project which involved the structural analysis and optimization of a pre-existing design in order to investigate the possibility of an improved design without alteration to material or functional dimensions (wheel diameter and width). The study was conducted using Abaqus FEA with alternative designs, using the original as a base for comparison. Finally, I also was part of a team working on the preliminary design on replacement of a PC- 9 aluminum wing skin into a carbon fiber composite design based on FEA model of the wing validated through physical testing of a physical PC- 9 wing.
