Bell Helicopter

As part of its Business Systems Modernisation initiative, Bell Helicopter sought to establish one source of information that could be shared enterprise-wide and with its suppliers and partners. Bell chose to upgrade to ENOVIA V6R2013x to manage all of its aircraft and parts data, from contracts all the way down to capturing the delivered aircraft as a bill of material.

With ENOVIA for our entire enterprise, the information around the aircraft is available and visible to everyone that needs that data, not only the engineers, which is the way it was in the past. And because we have taken ENOVIA, and it is the master for most of the product data and it sends that data to CAMS and SAP as the slave systems, we are seeing an increase in quality of what is communicated from engineering to the shop floor

What is PLM?

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) defines the processes involved for product development; i.e. design through to manufacture, to service and disposal.

PLM systems are designed to manage the entire process and by definition have been architected to manage process, people, tasks, issues, costs and documents.  By design, PLM systems will achieve this by collaborating and synchronising information with existing systems (including 2D & 3D CAD, Excel, Project Management, MS Office, ERP and any other legacy systems in place), or replace those systems, either up front or over time in a controlled manner.
