Graduating with a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours) from the University of Canterbury, he has developed a comprehensive skill set that blends traditional mechanical capabilities with advanced electronic and software disciplines. Throughout his academic career, Finn has focused on mastering 3D design, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and rapid prototyping, while cultivating strong engineering problem-solving capabilities and a highly collaborative approach to multidisciplinary team environments.

His notable milestones include a collaboration with Dawn Aerospace for his Final Year Project, where he helped design and develop a custom datalogging payload for the Dawn MKII Aurora spaceplane. The payload successfully completed a flight campaign, gathering critical operational data to guide future design iterations. Additionally, Finn gained valuable hands-on experience with Dawn’s Spaceplane Airframe team, contributing directly to preparing the Aurora craft for its initial supersonic test flights.
