Lily Horner

Graduate Aerospace Engineer

Biography

Lily Horner is a Graduate Aerospace Engineer with a multidisciplinary background spanning advanced manufacturing, mechatronics and international business. She completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics) (Honours) and a Bachelor of Business (International Business) at RMIT University in 2026. Through this combination of engineering and business studies, Lily has developed a broad understanding of technical product development, manufacturing processes and the wider commercial environments in which engineering projects operate.

Lily brings practical experience in mechanical design, computer-aided design, prototyping and additive manufacturing. Her technical capabilities include failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), failure analysis, system integration and verification and validation testing. She also has programming experience across C/C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink and LabVIEW, supporting her ability to contribute to multidisciplinary engineering projects involving both physical systems and software-based analysis.

Prior to joining MEMKO, Lily worked as an Undergraduate Mechatronics Engineer at Haemograph, where she contributed to the development of biomedical diagnostic equipment. Her work included supporting system integration, conducting failure analysis and undertaking validation testing to help assess system performance and reliability. This experience strengthened her ability to approach complex technical challenges methodically and contribute effectively throughout the engineering development lifecycle.

As part of her engineering honours studies, Lily completed a thesis exchange at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Her research focused on the design optimisation and manufacturing of specialised solar-integrated textiles, providing her with valuable international experience and exposure to emerging manufacturing technologies. The project further developed her capabilities in technical research, iterative design, prototyping and the evaluation of innovative engineering solutions.

At MEMKO, Lily applies her multidisciplinary engineering knowledge and analytical approach to aerospace engineering projects, with particular interests in systems engineering, mechanical design, and verification and validation. She is passionate about developing dependable engineering solutions, expanding her capabilities within the aerospace sector and contributing to projects that demand precision, collaboration and rigorous technical thinking.
